Pumpkin Dog Bones
“These dog treats are so easy to make! A really great way to use up the extra pumpkin puree I bought over Thanksgiving. Our dogs just love them!”
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 large egg yolk
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (make sure it DOES NOT contain xylitol)
3/4 cup pumpkin puree
How to Make It:
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a stand-up mixer, using the paddle attachment, stir pumpkin, peanut butter, and egg yolk until thoroughly combined.
In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder until thoroughly combined.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the pumpkin mixture on lower speed (the dough should be somewhat dry).
Transfer dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll out to approximately 1/4” thick.
Using cookie cutters, cut out shapes and transfer to a parchment lined cookie sheet, placing them 1” apart.
Re-roll any dough scraps, roll out to approximately 1/4” thick, then cut more shapes until all the dough is used.
Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes for small dog bones or 25 minutes for larger dog boness.
Cool completely before passing them out.
